Laser Teeth Whitening

The treatment is performed in a private treatment room and a cheek retractor is placed into the mouth. We will apply a protective gel to the gums to avoid any sensitivity. We then apply a carbomide peroxide gel to the teeth and heat with a laser LED light for 15 minutes. You will then be asked to rinse your mouth and teeth and the procedure will be repeated a further twice for the best results. The whole process takes about 1 hour.
Full aftercare instructions will be advised after treatment and for optimum results, clients are advised to avoid any coloured food or beverages for 48 hours following the treatment.
How does it work
The whitening gel (carbamide peroxide) breaks down into oxygen molecules. These molecules go into the tiny pores of the enamel and dentin, and break up the stains that block out the light. As the stains are broken into smaller and smaller pieces, more light passes through the teeth and makes them look lighter. Stains which have built-up over time, that are yellow to slightly brown produce the best results. Teeth that are dark brown to blue-gray are the most difficult to bleach because the stain is deeply embedded into the tooths structure. These types of stains are usually caused by tetracycline (an alternative to antibiotics) and as a result has effected the colour of the tooth, these stains can take a minimum of two laser treatments to achieve good results.
Carbamide peroxide is a compound composed of hydrogen peroxide and urea. In the presence of water, carbamide peroxide breaks down into its component parts, thus providing the hydrogen peroxide needed to perform the tooth whitening process. The reason carbamide peroxide is used in whiteners is because it is a relatively more stabile molecule than hydrogen peroxide. By using carbamide peroxide in whitener formulations manufacturers can deliver the hydrogen peroxide needed to produce the lightening effect yet create a product that has a more predictable, safer and longer shelf life
